We're proud to offer this rare carpet material,
which was used in some late 1950's and early 1960's General Motors vehicles.
Tuxedo carpet material is constructed by twisting an Olefin filament yarn
into 80/20 Rayon/Nylon Blend loop yarn. The material is then tufted on a
5/32 gauge loop machine, and carefully dyed. Because Olefin does not take
dye and remains black, the carpet has an elegant look, inspiring the name
"Tuxedo". Tuxedo carpet yardage comes in 52" widths and is backed with
either heavy rubber latex, or polyethylene.
