Installation Instructions

How To Install A Carpet..

Please read these instructions entirely before starting. Do not cut your new carpet until you have confirmed that the carpet is correct for your car, and you understand how to install it. Carpets that have been cut cannot be returned. While not mandatory, a picture of your old carpet and attachments taken with a digital or instant camera can be very helpful.

A. Remove the Old Carpet
1. Remove the sill plates, which hold down the outer carpet edges at the door openings. Place the sill plate screws into a cup or other container.

2. Remove front seat bolts. Some seat bolts go all the way through the bottom of the car. You will need a deep well socket to remove the bolts.

3. Remove the front seat(s), carefully disconnecting any electrical wiring.

4. Remove seat belt bolts.

5. Remove console if your car has one, carefully disconnecting any wiring.

6. Remove kick plates, if your car has them.

7. Remove your back seat lower cushion.

8. Remove the carpet from the car.

B. Prepare the Floor Pan
1. Remove any remaining felt or insulation that was attached to the carpet, but do not remove any tar paper type body insulation.

2. Vacuum or sweep the floor pan clean, and repair rust spots, if any.

C. Prepare the New Carpet
1. Smooth the new carpet and place the old carpet on top, making sure both are centered.

2. Verify the locations of any cutouts and holes in the old carpet for console, kick panels, and mounting bolts, etc, and mark the new carpet if needed.

3. Use a box cutter or sharp knife to carefully cut slits in the appropriate locations on the new carpet. A small slit is usually all that's needed for bolt holes.

CAUTION! Be certain of your cuts: carpets are not returnable after being cut or trimmed.

4. Do not cut the carpet sides where the sill plates are located yet.

5. Remove the old carpet from the car.

D. Complete the Installation
1. Replace the back seat bottom cushion.

2. Replace the kick plates.

3. Replace the console, if your car is equipped with one, being careful to correctly connect any electrical wires, if any.

4. Replace the seat belts and seat belt bolts.

5. Replace the front seat(s) and bolts, re-connecting any electrical wiring.

6. Carefully trim the outer edges of the new carpet so that the carpet edge will be positioned out of site under the sill plates.

7. Finally, re-attach your sill plates with the screws you originally removed.

Congratulations, you have successfully installed your new carpet!
